Zion's and Utah trip
In Mid August, we took a vacation to Utah where Sue's niece got married. On the way to Salt Lake, we stopped to hike in Zion's National Park.
If you look closely, you will see a small waterfall in the background. Really more of a trickle.
The wedding reception turned out to be a mini reunion for Sue's family. This is her (seated left to right) her Aunt Alice, Larry and Cheryl Davis (sister), and (standing) Uncle Wayne with wife Chris, Dad, Julie, Uncle Gene and Sue.
Also cousin Norlene on left.
Five of seven sibling were able to attend.

Girls Camp
Sue was called as the Stake Young Women's President in our Church. One of her responsiblities was working with other women to organize a camp in the local mountains for 90 teenage girls. They had a great time.

Havasupia Hike
In June, Jarrod and Rick hiked into an area canyon near the Grand Canyon. From the parking on the rim, they hiked down switchbacks into the valley. The first several miles are this typical dry, hot barren canyon.
After several mile, we pass a village (Indian reservation) of Supai where we find fantastic water falls with crystal clear water. There is a rock ledge under these falls. You can see Jarrod jumping off the ledge into the water.
This is Havasu falls. It is very close to the camping area. The photos don't do this beautiful scene justice. For perspective, there are swimmer in the pool below.

Shortly further down the canyon from the campground is Mooney Falls. This falls is approximately 200'. This is Jarrod above the falls.
Getting down to the bottom of the falls is a bit tricky. It requires going through a small tunnel and climbing down a chain. Challenging for those with fears of height but well worth the effort. This is 3 of our group coming out of the cave.

There are trails along the banks but we brought water socks and walked down the stream.
In some areas we have to climb ropes.
This is Beaver Falls. Actually, this is only a portion of the falls. Beaver Falls is multiple large cascades much like this.
Just a few miles past Beaver Falls, it the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon.

At dusk, the bats in the campground were visible. We were able to get a few photos of them flying. Look closely at the face of the young man in the white T-shirt. You can see a bat coming toward the camera.
After Havasupia, we spent a few days on the Colorado River boating.
We had a near diseaster. Jarrod was in the barrel when he hit a wake doing a face plant onto the zipper handle. Slightly to the center and he might have lost his eye. The closest hospital was 2 hours. Fortunately we had a good first aid kit.

Jarrod dances/Birthdays
Jarrod attended several dances in the spring both for his and Christy's high school.

Trip to St. George
In January, we meet Dad and Nancy in St. George for a few days. Rick, Jarrod and a friend (Adam) went hiking in the local mountains. Beautiful country, even in January.
When there, Jarrod received a blessing (Patriarchal) from his grandfather.
Plus we just relaxed.
We also toured the historical area of St. George. This is the tabernacle, built in the late 1800's.
We also toured Brigham Young's summer home.

Stagnant Blog
Now that all our children and grandchildren are living in the area, we have not been posting to the family blog site. We aren't aware that anyone else has been following it. If there is interest, we can continue to add blogs. Let us know.

November
As mentioned in the previous blog, we have all the kids over on Sunday's. It's fun, even while eating, to have them here.
November was the birthday of Nathan and Joshua. We celebrated their birthdays together.
We had a friend help us take some family photos in the back yard. We took over 300 photos. (You have to love digital) These were the best.
Aren't they cute??!!
The group photo was a challenge. Of the 115 group shots, none came out with everyone right. This was the best one.
But with Photoshop, we were able to make it better.
