May Wrap Up

May came and went. This is an attempt at wrapping up the month. We just didn't take time to post on the blog. Dan, Jen's brother, was married, so Nathan and his family were down from school. Nathan could only stay a week. Jen and kids were in OC until the end of the month. I was great to have them here. We look forward to them moving here in August.

While here, we took an afternoon at Irvine park. We had a picnic lunch, played on the swings and road a train. Nathan's blog has some shots from the train. This is Kate on the slides.

Two cute girls on a picnic.
Sue received the traditional breakfast in bed. It's awkward to eat in bed and we need to hurry for church at 9am, but it's tradition.
The church put on a talent/variety show. Sue and some friends did a 50's lip-synch. The song was "Kissing and a huggin' with Fred". Fred (in black) is the Bishop. It's ok since his wife in second from the right.

Tyler likes Cinnamon graham crackers.

Josh and Hayley arrived in California on the 30th. They will be living with us while Josh goes to Cal State Fullerton for an MBA. We spent Sunday afternoon with my brother Steve.

Jarrod's Alternative Prom

The Church puts on a Formal Prom night for the youth as a clean alternative to the High School Dances. Prior to the dance, the dinner for Jarrod's group was at our house.

This is a photo of the group (minus 1 couple).

The parents served the dinner. They had salad, their choice of Filet Minion or Chicken with broccoli, potatoes, and watermelon. Sesame seed lemon cake for desert. We didn't hear any complaints.
The master chef!!

After the dance, it is traditional to do something fun. They decided to have a food fight. While at the dance, the parents bought and prepared the food. It was ketchup, maple syrup, whipping cream, flour, oatmeal, Coco puffs, tapioca pudding, marshmallows, Capri Sun drinks, Mentos and Soda.

This is what they looked like before.
This is the after. Yes, lots of plastic on the car seats.

Our latest project included installing new cabinets in the laundry room.

Utah Vacation 3

We had dinner on Thursday at Julie's in Alpine. Cheryl and Larry were able to have dinner with us. Unfortunately, Bob was away on business.

Tyler likes to cuddle. Sisters Jarrod with his other cousins Sue with Julie and Craig. He had to work late so Cheryl had already gone. On Friday, we returned to a bounce house with Katelynn. She had a blast!! There are more photos on Nathan's Blog.

After the bounce house, Rick and Nathan hiked up the Y mountain. Rick was out of shape and was dying. Good that Nathan knew CPR, just in case. A panoramic of Utah valley from the top of the "Y"
We had a great time being with the family. We look forward to having them closer.

Utah Vacation 2 (snow)

On Monday, Sue was with the daughters and kids shopping and kids things while Rick and Jarrod went snowmobiling at Snowbird ski resort with Rick & Adams Christensen and the Heathcoates. It was a beautiful day!! Nathan's blog has photos of the ladies activities.

On Tuesday, Jarrod, Adam and Rick went to Brighton. Just a few days before, there was fresh snow. It was good for spring skiing.
The lift we road most the time can be seen just over Adams right shoulder. Some videos of Jarrod and Adams on the slopes.

On Wednesday, Jarrod and Rick went to Brighton again. This time the weather was colder with snow. Icier than Tuesday but still good. The Heathcoates were on the slopes as well.

More to come about this vacation.......

Utah Vacation 1

Jarrod and Sue had spring break so where else is there to go, Utah. We arrived Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the kids and grandkids for the week.
Rick's birthday was in April so we celebrated it in Utah. There was a problem with getting the candles lit. Not sure if it was the matches or too many candles.
More to come for the week. Digital photos are great but creates a large volume.

Ancestral Family Photographs

The previous post was as I started my posting of old photographs. I attempted to list the links on the main page of this blog. The list became too long and difficult to organize. I decided to do them on a blog with a link from the main page. The pedigree will help to know who the people are.

This is a work in progress. Bookmark this site and return for updates.

Josh is coming home!

We just found out that Josh was accepted into the MBA program at Cal State Fullerton. They accepted some of his credits from BYUH so it won't take the full 2 years. This is an answer to fervent prayers. He starts in August. So Josh, Hayley & TBD (to be determined) will be here in the fall. Nathan will be working for KPMG in August as well. We will have 3 of the 4 kids in Orange County in the fall!!!
